Obituary of Charles J. Kelley

Funeral arrangements have been finalized today, August 27, 2015 for Charles J. (Chuck) Kelley who passed away peacefully at his residence in Bradenton, FL, on August 9, 2015 with his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara (Smith) Kelley, at his side. He was born on February 18, 1928 in Middleville, NY to the late John and Irene (Jackson) Kelley and married on October 28th, 1950, in St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer, of which he was a member. He retired in 1990 after forty years with the Library Bureau in Herkimer, NY. Chuck was also a member of the East Herkimer Fire Department, East Herkimer Fish & Game Club, a leader for Boy Scout Troop 22, and an Army veteran. As a long-time resident of East Herkimer, Chuck took great pride and enjoyment from his gardens and yard. He also had a great love for animals. A passion he passed on to his sons and grandchildren. Chuck will be remembered by those who knew him for his wonderful smile and his willingness to help people, especially his grandchildren. He leaves behind his wife Barbara; 2 sons, Christopher and his wife Dana of Ft. Myers, FL, and Kevin and his wife Mary, of Raleigh, NC; his 9 loving grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren who could always bring a smile to his face just by being in the room. A Memorial Mass will be held in his honor on Friday, September 11, 2015, at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Church, Bellinger Street, Herkimer, NY officiated by The Very Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the East Herkimer Fire Department or Hospice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street (F.K.A.
