Obituary of Jay H Wilson

Ilion-Frankfort - Jay H. Wilson, age 86, of First Ave. Ext., Ilion, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2015, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, after a long illness, with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 29, 1929, in Utica, the son of Parker L. and Merrell (Durfey) Wilson. Jay attended E. Frankfort School and graduated from Ilion High School in the class of 1948. Mr. Wilson was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Air Force. On June 9, 1951, he was married to Norma M. Dodge at the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion. She died on November 18, 2002. Jay was employed as a surveyor for NYS Dept. of Transportation District Office in Utica for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1991. He then worked as a part-time surveyor for William Tiel. Mr. Wilson was a long time member of the Word Christian Center in Mohawk and a member of the NYS Engineer's Assoc. Surviving family members include his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Dennis Dolan, of Nazareth, PA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald "Ron" and Mary Ellen Wilson, of Port Byron, NY, and John J. and Robin Wilson, of Ilion; two grandchildren, Jennifer Dolan, of Germany, and Joel Dolan and his wife, Lindsay, of Walnutport, PA; his great-grandson, Jax Dolan; and Jay's friend, Kathryn Knewasser, of Ilion. He was predeceased by his wife, Norma; brother, Bruce Wilson; and his sister, Barbara Wilson. Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Friday, September 11, 2015, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's newly reopened home at 102 West St., Ilion. Interment will be in Oak View Cemetery, Frankfort. Calling hours are Friday, September 11, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the funeral home service at 102 West St., Ilion.
