Obituary of Rose M. Enjem

ILION: Rose M. "Cito" Enjem, 91, a long time Ilion resident, went to be with her Savior Jesus on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Sitrin Health Care Center, New Hartford. Born in Utica on August 7, 1924, Rose was the daughter of the late Peter and Mora (Zady) Joseph. She was raised and educated in Utica schools. At one time she was married to Joseph F. Enjem whose relationship led to the blessing of their 3 sons. During her working years, Rose held positions at General Electric, Remington Rand, MDS and was last employed by the Masonic Home in the housekeeping department. Although she worked outside of the home, providing for her family at home was the source of strength and comfort to her. She sacrificed as a loving mother, was an adored grandmother and great-grandmother and they loved their "Cito Rose". Rose will always be remembered for her charity. She gained great satisfaction from being able to help others which she did in so many different ways. She gave selflessly of herself, volunteering at the Catholic Charities Food Pantry and driving those in need to church. All in all, it had been a wonderful life, filled with family, faith, and compassionate friends. Rose loved to cook for her children and grandchildren and will be remembered for her pies, salad, and Lebanese food. In her younger years she was an avid bowler. Rose was a member of the Frankfort Senior Citizens, Red Hats Society, Catholic Daughters, and a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Ilion. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony J. and Eileen Enjem of New Hartford, Francis J. and Bonnie Enjem of Richfield Springs, Joseph P. and Mary Enjem of Ilion; her beloved grandchildren, Julie and Jerry Masi, Anthony M. Enjem, Mark and Jennifer Enjem, Francis and Kristin Enjem, Jr., Valarie Enjem, Mary Margaret and Larry Fish, and Natalie and Jason Fitch, as well as 15 cherished great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Francis Joseph of Utica; a daughter-in-law, Bernadette Enjem of Ilion; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Anthony "Turk" and his wife Hattie Joseph; a sister, Lucy and her husband William Martin; and special friends, Dorothy and John Small and Jane and Russ Smith. The family offers a special thank you to Amy and the staff of the Sitrin Health Care Center for the outstanding care they provided during her time of need. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, NY (Town of Frankfort) 315-894-8000. Rose's Memorial Service will take place at 6:00 PM at the funeral home with Deacon James Bower, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose's memory can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or The Rescue Mission of Utica; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea, Funeral Directors.
