Obituary of Louise Esther Ainsworth

HERKIMER: Mrs. Louise Esther Ainsworth, 89, a lifelong Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Basset Medical Center, Cooperstown with the love and support of her children. Born in Paines Hollow on September 16, 1925, Louise was the daughter of the late Lewis and Hazel (Scott) Clements. She was raised and educated in Herkimer Schools and on January 10, 1945 she married her one and only love, Douglas F. Ainsworth. They shared a loving and enduring union for 32 years until his passing on March 26, 1977. Louise was very proud of her position as a nurse's aide at Herkimer Memorial Hospital, a position she held for 21 years. To this day her former patients still comment on her compassion and the care she gave. She was last employed by K-Mart, where she retired from the jewelry department. A very loving and caring woman, she was always concerned about the needs of those she loved. Louise enjoyed visiting with her family and sharing special times with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader, a fan of John Wayne westerns, and was a talented cook and baker known for her homemade white cake. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer where for many years she had been active in the church choir and Eucharistic ministry. Louise is survived by her daughters, Carol Ann LeFave and husband Arthur, Jean Marie Jacopelle and husband Leonard all of Herkimer; her sons, John Douglas Ainsworth and wife Cathy of Herkimer, Robert Francis Ainsworth and wife Mary Anne of Farmington and Dr. Mark Matthew Ainsworth of Herkimer; her cherished grandchildren, Amy Rask and husband Michael, Tina Jacopelle and companion Chris Kalem, Anna Jacopelle and companion Tim Cerio, Charley Ann Priola and husband Robert, Krystal Nesbitt and husband Eric, Heather Thompson and husband Chad, Ryan Ainsworth and wife Sarah, and Sean and Matthew Ainsworth; as well as 18 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Nancy Conkling of Herkimer and many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to give a special thank you to her nieces, Kathy Waro and husband Michael and Linda Leonard and husband Terry for their loving support through Mom's illness, and extend our heartfelt gratitude to long time friend and caregiver, Rita Treen. Our deepest admiration for all the doctors and nurses who extended such compassion, care and understanding to our mother through her many hospital stays. She was predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Eggleston and Florence Loomis; her brothers, Lewis Clements, Jr. and Frederick Clements, and a great-granddaughter, Grace Mary Priola. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street (F.K.A. Holleran Funeral Service) Herkimer, NY (315)866-1011 on Monday, September 14, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Louise's funeral will commence at 9:15 AM on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from the chapel of the funeral home where a prayer service will take place and at 10:00 AM from St. Francis de Sales Church, Bellinger St., Herkimer where her Funeral Mass will be offered by The Very Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor. The funeral procession will proceed to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Douglas. In lieu of floral offerings, those wishing to express an act of kindness in Louise's memory may consider St. Francis de Sales Church or St. Francis de Sales School; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family is being cared for and guided by Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea, Funeral Directors.
