Obituary of Raymond Asa Siver

Dolgeville Dateline Mr. Raymond Asa Siver 84 of 44 South Helmer Avenue Dolgeville, died Sunday October 4, 2015 at Bassett Hospital after a brief illness. Ray was born in Stratford, on July 19, 1931, the son of the late Clifford “Asa” and Jennie (Bullock) Siver and was a graduate of Stratford School, class of 1949. A veteran of the Korean War he served honorably in the Army from 1952 until he was discharged in December 1953 with the rank of Corporal. He served with the 1733 25th Recon Company and was awarded the Korean Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, and the United Nations Service Medal. Raymond was employed as an internal grinder for the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company of Utica, until his retirement in 1992. Ray enjoyed many affiliations throughout the years including the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club, where he would play Pitch on Monday nights, a life member of the Salisbury Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club, Life member of the Ft. Plain VFW, a member of the American Legion Post #31 of Little Falls, the Polish Club of Little Falls, AND THE Ilion Moose Club. As a sports enthusiast he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and bowling, along with being a NASSCAR fan. He is survived by his Sons Perry (Darlene) Siver of Norway, Andrew Siver of Eliot, Maine, His Daughter Melanie (Lawrence) Staring of Stratford, his brothers Ronald and George Siver both of Dolgeville, his sisters Readoth Young of Little Falls, June Slabe of Mohawk, several grandchildren & Great Grandchildren, Nieces & Nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward and his sisters Leona Carpenter and Florence Bower. Services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in the Dolgeville Cemetery. There are No calling hours. The family would like to Thank the staff at the Little Falls Hospital, and Bassett Medical Center and the Herkimer County Home Health Care for their assistance, and compassion during Ray’s illness.
