Obituary of Margaret P Juteau

MOHAWK – Mrs. Margaret P. “Peg” (Perry) Juteau, age 95, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer. Born on September 18, 1920, Margaret was the daughter of the late Adrian and Alice (Ward) Perry. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Mohawk High School. On December 28, 1940, Margaret was wed to the late Leon H. “Lee” Juteau, and the two shared almost 54 years together, before his passing on April 12,1994. For many years, Peg was employed by the W.T. Grant Company in Herkimer. She served as manager of the infants and growing children section up until her retirement in 1988. Peg was a woman who was very involved in her community. She served as Past President of the VFW District Four, Past President of the VFW Post 502 and was a member of the Mohawk American Legion for over 50 years. She practiced her Catholic faith at Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk, where she was a member of their Rosary Society. Peg is survived by her sister, Lucile Greshel of Mohawk; her grandson, James Barnett, Jr. and her great-grandson, James Barnett, III, both of Virginia; and her great-granddaughter, Kamica Duesler and her husband, AJ, of South Carolina. She also leaves her brothers-in-law, Alfred Lundquist, of Mohawk, and Walter Juteau, of Utica; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins, with special mention of her niece, Kathleen Aney. Peg lived a full and happy life, making many friends along the way, including Freida and Robert Lennon and Peg Hyland, who were constant supporters to her towards the end of her life. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Barnett; her sister, Doris Lundquist; and her brother, Donald Perry. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Interment will follow in Mohawk Cemetery, where Peg will be laid to rest beside her husband, Lee. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Peg’s memory to the Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk. Envelopes will be available at the service.
