Obituary of Emilia Kuczynski

HERKIMER – Emilia Kuczynski, age 83, of Herkimer, NY passed away peacefully after a long illness on November 12, 2015, in the comforting care of Valley Health Services. She was born on October 6, 1932, in Iwanowo, Russia, the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophia (Kaminski) Lashkewicz. She attended and graduated from schools in Germany. After immigrating to the United States in 1950, she moved to Willimantic, Connecticut, and became a United States citizen there in 1960. The family then moved to Utica, NY, and finally Herkimer. Emilia was gainfully employed as an assembler with General Electric in Utica, retiring in 1993 after many years of loyal service to the company. She was very proud of her distinguished career there. At one time she was also employed by I.C.L. and PAR Technology, both of Utica. She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, and also belonged to the Red Hat Society. Emilia demonstrated sincere and dedicated commitment to her family and friends. She loved taking care of her grandson and spent her free time playing cards with friends in Ilion. She will be sadly missed. Survivors include her son, John Kuczynski, daughter-in-law Carolyn, and grandson Alexander of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter Christina Kuczynski and her boyfriend, Dan Murphy, of Herkimer; and she was formerly married to Joseph Kuczynski of Rotonda West, Florida. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister in Europe, and by her beloved brother Theodore “Ted” Laszkewycz of Herkimer, who died on July 25, 2009. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer (866-1011), F.K.A. Holleran Funeral Service, on Monday, November 16, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. Emilia’s funeral will commence at 9:30 am on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from the funeral home, where prayer will be offered, and at 10:00 am from St. Francis de Sales Church, North Bellinger Street, Herkimer, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest. In lieu of floral tributes, kindly consider contributions to the Central New York Alzheimer Association. The family would like to thank the staff of Valley Health Services for the care and compassion she received at that facility. Her family has planned all funeral and burial arrangements with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer, NY. Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea.
