Obituary of Helen F. Wren

MOHAWK – Mrs. Helen F. Wren, 90, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on December 18, 2015 in Little Falls, NY. Helen was born in Little Falls a daughter of the late Reuben and Lida (Owens) Klock and graduated from Little Falls High School. Helen was predeceased by her first husband, Nellis Jones, who was killed in action during World War II. Helen married William J. Wren, Sr. in 1950 and shared 53 years of marriage before his death in 2003. Bill and Helen shared an abiding love and respect for one another with a deep commitment to their marriage and to raising their eight children. She was last employed at Mohawk Central School. Helen was a 60-year member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk. She dedicated herself to the community by participating in the Meals on Wheels program, volunteered with the Mohawk Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and was a founding member and volunteer of MOVAC. In her personal life, family and friends were her passion. Helen enjoyed sewing, camping, and nurturing children. She leaves her family three daughters, Barbara (William) Lennox, Janet (predeceased Kirk Marshall) Wren, Marcia (Kyle) Kenyon; five sons, Allen Wren, Kevin Wren and Peg Olson, Brian (Becky) Wren, Michael (Susan) Wren, and William (Barbara) Wren, Jr.; sister, Barbara Klock Verri; cherished grandchildren, Matthew (Tracy) Malowski, Marlie (Chris) Lawton, Benjamin (Rosie) Malowski, Daniel (Alexsa) Michaud, Adrienne (Robert) Watson; Keith, Shineigh, Nathan, Meghan, Devin, and Kiley Wren; as well as five great-grandchildren. She is survived by in-laws William Ward, Geraldine Wren, Carol Wren, and Donna Gardinier. Mom so loved her daily chats with Donna. Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects to the family at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road (Town of Frankfort), Ilion, NY on Saturday December 26th from 1 to 3 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home where Sr. Mary Jo Tallman will preside. Final interment will be Sunday December 27th at 10 a.m. in Mohawk Cemetery on John Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Exempt Firemen's Benevolent Association of Mohawk or the Amazing Gracie Foundation. Members of the Firemen’s Association and MOVAC are asked to gather in the funeral home organization room at 1:30 p.m. to pay their respects. The family extends its appreciation to Alpine in Little Falls and Dr. Mark Warfel and Sandy Gaetano for all the care and effort given to Helen and her family.
