Obituary of Gladys I. Monroe

Mrs. Gladys I. (Gray) Pointon- Monroe, 86, a former Dolgeville resident, died Friday December 18th, 2015 at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Health Center, Bath, New York after a brief illness. Gladys was born in Oppenheim on September 23, 1929 the daughter of Ruben and Mary Katherine (Crouse) Gray and was a graduate of Oppenheim School, class of 1947. She was united in marriage to Morton V. Pointon on July 1, 1950, in the Methodist Parsonage in Dolgeville. Mr. Pointon, died on July 20, 1990. She then married Peter E. Bailey on September 5, 1992. He predeceased her on August 6, 2001. She then married James E. Chorlton on July 31, 2004; he predeceased her on June 6, 2009. She currently married her husband William Monroe in November 19, 2011. While residing in Dolgeville, Gladys was a member of the Dolgeville Methodist Church and was a cheerleader advisor at Oppenheim School. Mrs. Pointon operated the Three Rivers Motel in Clay, NY and at one time was employed by the former Daniel Green Company in Dolgeville. Her affiliations included the Eastern Star of New Berlin, NY, the former Adirondack Senior Citizens of Dolgeville, the Oppenheim and Stratford Senior Citizens, and the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club. She was also affiliated with the First Baptist Church of New Berlin and the Confederated Baptist Church of Elbridge, NY. Her favorite activity was in dancing throughout the years, along with playing the piano and sing along with family and friends. She is survived by her Husband William of Bath, NY, her children, Carol Pointon Begeal and husband Ralph of Bath, NY, Morton V. Pointon II and his wife Debbie of Dolgeville, and Krystal and her husband Todd Christenson of Garland, TX, her grandchildren Jennifer Jean Begeal, Benjamin E. Begeal, Charles J.(Gina) Begeal, Cari I. Begeal Morton V. Pointon III, Michael Pointon, Justin K. Smithers, Mary Katherine (Katie) Forrester, Nieces and Nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday DECEMBER 29TH, 2015 AT 1 pm AT THE Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville, NY. Rev. Jack A. Ford, Pastor of the Dolgeville United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills.
