Obituary of Kazmir C. "Kaz" Karpowich

MOHAWK: Mr. Kazmir C. “Kaz” Karpowich, age 79, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Alpine Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Little Falls. He was born on March 15, 1936 in Richfield Springs, a son to the late Charles and Martha (Pecuch) Karpowich and was a Richfield Springs High School Graduate. His marriage to the former Eleanor M. Grande took place October 14, 1961 at St. Mary’s Church in Little Falls. The couple lived in Mohawk for many years. He was last employed with the Local Labor Union 35 of Utica as a Construction Foreman, retiring in 1998. Kaz found his greatest joy hunting, traveling, and spending time with his grandkids and family. Kaz was especially fond of dancing the polka as well. He is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor, his children, Sharon Johnson of Fairport, Karen Vanderwarker of East Syracuse, and Greg Karpowich and his wife Barbara of Horseheads, grandchildren, Kayla, Kelsie, Cameron, Ryan, Megan, Emma, and Macy, his sister Rose Merrick and her husband Frank of Mohawk, and brothers John Karpowich of Ilion, and Art Karpowich and wife Collette of Richfield Springs, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins and In-Laws. He was predeceased by his sisters, Ann Entwistle, Helen Borowicz, and Mary Alexczuk. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion (Town of Frankfort), NY (315) 894-8000, on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 PM. His funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Procession will follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, where he will be laid to rest. Funeral arrangements are under the supervision of Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea, Funeral Directors. Online memorials may be made at www.eneafamily.com.
