Obituary of Ethel E. (Lonis) Webster Stalloch

Mrs. Ethel E. (Lonis) Webster Stalloch, age 92, a lifelong Ilion resident, passed away on Tuesday evening, January 5, 2016, at the St. Luke’s Healthcare Center in New Hartford, with her family by her side. Born on October 23, 1923, Ethel was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ella (Brown) Lonis. She was raised and educated in Ilion and attended local schools. At one time, Ethel shared in a marriage with the late John A. Webster, a relationship from which came her four children. Some time later, Ethel became acquainted with Mr. Raymond Stalloch. The couple was blessed to find one another at a later point in their lives. They were married on October 22, 1993, and for over 22 years they shared in a close and loving companionship. Ethel spent her working years with General Electric and retired in 1983 after 27 years with the company. As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ethel was simply the best. Her world revolved around her family and she was constant in the ways she provided for them, making sure that they never went without. A truly happy person, Ethel was carefree, spirited and had a natural zest for life. She loved to sing and dance, and was often fun-loving in her ways. Her creativity and talent shone through her artwork and she was skilled at painting and drawing. She loved shopping, tending to her flowers and garden, and spending quality time with those she loved most. She was a member of the Hospice Social Support Group and, in her earlier years, enjoyed her get-togethers with the ‘Classy Lassies’. Ethel will be remembered by her beloved husband, Ray; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cherilyn and Michael Pratt, of Mohawk, and Lori and Art Nemyj, of Frankfort; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Dawn Webster and Ron and Maureen Webster, all of Ilion; her grandchildren, Cheri Quayle Wetmore and her husband, Bill, David Wollaber, Rebecca Dryden and her husband, Duke, Samantha Murphy and her companion, Chris Bruck, Melissa Webster and Russell Webster and his wife, Juli; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sisters-in-law, Marge Lonis and Katherine Maffocco, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Lonis, and a sister-in-law, Mildred Stalloch. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM – 1:00PM on Saturday, January 9, 2016, from the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s newly reopened and renovated location at 102 West Street, Ilion, NY 13357. Those wishing to do so may consider memorial contributions in Ethel’s name to H.A.L.O. (Helping Animals Live Organization) 615 Albany Street, Little Falls, NY 13365. Ethel’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday at 1:00PM from the chapel of the funeral home, immediately upon the conclusion of visitation, with Pastor Mitchell Lindquist, of the First Baptist Church of Ilion, officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in Mohawk Cemetery. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Jerry Sloan of the Slocum-Dickson Medical Group and to the staff of St. Luke’s Healthcare Center for their compassion and care.
