John P. Murray, age 50, of E. River St., Ilion, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at home, with his family by his side, after a long illness. He was born on February 1, 1965, in Ilion, the son of Robert and Margery (Wohler) Murray, and attended Ilion schools. On January 6, 2016, he married June Buttignol in Ilion. John was employed as a fork lift operator at Precise Kit Promotions in Utica for over ten years, retiring in 2013. John was an avid hunter, bowler, golfer and enjoyed camping. Surviving family members include his wife, June; his mother, Margery Murray, of Ilion; his daughters, Christine Brant and Gennaleigh Austin and her husband, Andrew; his stepdaughters, Shauna Mosher and her husband, Joseph, Twyla Buttignol, and Kayla Buttignol and her fiance, Thomas Lawrence; ten grandchildren; three brothers, James Murray and his wife, Theresa, David Murray and his wife, Therese, and Roger Murray and his wife, Julia, all of Ilion; his sister, Linda Klink and her husband, Richard, of Columbia Center; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends; and his canine companion, Cooper. He was predeceased by his father. Friends and relatives are invited to attend John’s Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at the State Bowling Center, 17 East State St., Ilion, NY.
