Herkimer: Mrs. Alfonza J. “Florence” DeCeglie, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016, at Valley Health Services in Herkimer with loving family at her side. She was born in Little Falls, NY, a daughter to the late Guglielmo William and Antonietta (Foglietta) Minarchi. Her education began in Rome, Italy, and concluded in Little Falls, NY. Her marriage to Paul J. DeCeglie, Sr. took place October 16, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Church in Little Falls. Mr. DeCeglie passed away on October 24, 2009. Florence was a communicant of the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph in Herkimer. She is survived by her children, Paul DeCeglie, Jr. and his wife Mary Ellen of Ilion, Ann Marie Rooke of Herkimer, and Lorraine Tesoriere and her husband Joseph of Saratoga Springs, NY, her brothers, William Minarchi and his wife Rose of Clifton Park, NY and Angelo Minarchi and his wife Jennifer of Little Falls, her grandchildren, Laura Layer and her husband Howard, Michael Rooke and his wife Jennifer Blincoe, Paul L. DeCeglie, Alyssa Fuhrer and her husband Steven, and Christopher Rooke and his wife Audrie, her great-grandchildren, Justin, Dante, Isabelle, Caitlyn, Alessandra, Cali, Nico, and Alani, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Patrick Rooke. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9:00 in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Quy Vo. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer. There are NO calling hours. In lieu of floral offerings, contributions in memory of Florence may be made to Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer, NY.
