Obituary of Paul J. Puleo, Jr.

Mr. Paul J. “Junior” Puleo, Jr., age 75, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday evening, January 13, 2016. At the time of his passing he was surrounded by the love and support of his family at his bedside. Born on August 10, 1940, Paul was the son of the late Paul and Angelina (Puleo) Puleo, Sr. He was raised and educated in Frankfort and was a graduate of Frankfort High School with the Class of 1958. At one time Paul was married to Joanne Puleo, a relationship from which came five children. For many years, Junior worked as a machinist with Chicago Pneumatic, a position from which he retired. He also served for many years as a Town of Frankfort Assessor, traveling to other townships with his expertise and sitting as Chairman of the Board of Assessment Review. Junior’s life could be summed up as one filled with love and pride in his family. When his children were young, he was very involved with their sporting events; he was a Little League baseball coach, a supporter of American Legion baseball and a referee for high school football for close to fifteen years. Family traditions were something he held close to his heart and nothing gave him greater pleasure than Sunday dinners with his extended family. He truly enjoyed having everyone he cared about around a table, and there was a never a dull moment in the house when the family got together. Junior made all who knew him feel welcomed and loved. A handy man by nature, Paul took great pride in the renovations made to his homes throughout the years. He was a constant mover, who enjoyed gardening, cooking and exercising with his dogs on his nightly walks. He was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan, as well as a member of Kiwanis and a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort. Junior is survived by his loving companion of over 25 years, Michele Lasher; his daughters and sons-in-law, Gina and Michael Testa of Frankfort and Mary Jane and John Carney of Colorado; his sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Ann Marie Puleo of Rhode Island, Michael and Cindy Puleo of Colorado and Paul and Christine Puleo of Syracuse. He also leaves his grandchildren, Becky, PJ, Amanda, Alicia, Dominick, Nina, CJ, Samantha, Nicholas, Anthony, Jessa, Evan, Michelle, Mariah and McKayla; and his great-grandchildren, Bella, Ryder and Olivia. Always close to his heart was the memory of his beloved granddaughter, Sara Jane, who passed away in 2014. Paul will also be remembered by his sisters and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Anthony Abone and Joann Smith, all of Rome; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, with special mention of Rosalie Tripple and Jennie Puleo; Michele’s family, Kathleen Lasher, Marie Lasher and her children, Nathan and Braelynn, who shared a special closeness with their “Uncle Paul”; and his close friends, Pat Gatto and Tom and Robin Pflanz. Paul was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Rosalie Puleo and his close friend, Claude Lasher. Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 9:30AM – 11:30AM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894 – 8000. Paul Catena, Pastor, officiating. Spring burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, where Paul will be laid to rest with his parents.
