Obituary of Dorothy E. Gray
LITTLE FALLS: Dorothy E. Gray, 92, of 104 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Folts Home.
Born in the Bronx on September 30, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Marie (Mosbroker) Rickard. Raised and educated in the New York City area, she attended the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary and also art school, where she met the love of her life. On October 4, 1947 she was united in marriage to Joseph S. Gray with whom she spent a blessed and loving union of 65 years until his passing on October 31, 2012.
At one time, Dorothy held a position as a laborer for Cine Magnetics in Mamaroneck, NY. As an artist, she had a great admiration for the arts and loved spending time in New York City, the theatre and shopping. Loved by all, Dorothy was selfless and a woman of great commitment. Without hesitation, she was devoted to caring for her loved ones and her family was the focal point of her life.
She is survived by her beloved children, Kenyon I. Gray of Phoenix, AZ, Jacalyn M. and Robert Boland of Rochester and Andrea E. and Thomas Hoffa of Milbrook, NY; her grandchildren, Shannon Boland, Kimberly Hoffa and Keith Hoffa and his wife, Lisa and great grandchildren, Nathan and Brielle Hoffa. She is also survived by her in-laws, Edward and Anne Gray, Jan and Polly Gray, Anne Drapalski and Jane Desmond, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, February 11, 2015 from 9:15 AM – 10:15 AM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315)823-2424.
Dorothy’s funeral service will commence on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at 10:15 AM from the chapel of the funeral home and 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish, corner of John /E. Main Sts. Little Falls, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Terence Healy, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Procession will then follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Joseph.
