Obituary of Bernard A. Ten Eyck

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Mr. Bernard A. “Bernie” Ten Eyck, a longtime resident of St. Johnsville, passed away February 15, 2016 at Fox Hospital in Oneonta, NY. He was born September 14, 1926 in Ilion, NY, a son of the late Harvey J. and Lula (Ottman) Ten Eyck. He attended a country school in the Valley Brook area, and went on to graduate from the Fort Plain High School. Bernie was a proud veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Army Airborne Division. His marriage to his wife over 67 years, the former Joyce V. Pontius took place on June 12, 1948 at Grace Christian Church in St. Johnsville. He was employed for over 45 years with Beech Nut Packaging Company, Canajoharie, NY. Bernie was a member of the NRA, and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his sons, James M. Ten Eyck of Oneonta, NY and John D. Ten Eyck and his wife Monika of Lewiston, NY, his two granddaughters whom he so dearly loved, Courtney and Carly, and his In-Laws, Robert and Stephanie Pontius of Little Falls. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 4:00 PM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center Street in St. Johnsville, with Rev. Martin Glynn officiating. Calling hours will be held from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM prior to the funeral home service. Spring interment with full military honors will be Wednesday, May 18th at 11:30 AM at St. Johnsville Cemetery. Those wishing to remember Bernie in a special way are asked to consider the St. Johnsville Volunteer Ambulance. Envelopes are available at The Enea Family Funeral Home.
