Obituary of James J. Dineen, Sr.

DOLGEVILLE – Mr. James J. Dineen, Sr. 92, of Dolgeville, NY, passed away Saturday February 20, 2016 at Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Little Falls. He was born on November 3, 1923 in Little Falls. Jim received his education at St. Mary’s Academy and local schools. Jim and his wife the former Louise G. Lamphere were married in Dolgeville and were together for 56 years. She passed away January 30, 2004. He was also predeceased by his parents, Ralph Dineen, Sr. and Pearl J. (Daley) Dineen – Walrath, along with four sons, William Johnson (died 2013), James Dineen (died 2006), Ken Dineen, Sr. (died 2015), and Mark Dineen (died 1975), a daughter – in – law, Roberta Dineen (died 2003). He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Leonard Dineen, Sr. “Curly,” and his wife Martha, Lloyd Dineen, John Dineen and his wife Helen, Ralph Dineen and his wife Harriet, Florentine Hudson and her husband Paul, Betty Johnson and her husband Ed, and a baby sister, Shirley. Survivors include his sons, Terry and Gerry Dineen, and daughter Kathy Miller and her husband Ted, two sisters – in – law, Edith Dineen and Betty Lamphere, two daughters – in – law, Jean Dineen and Ellen Johnson, his grandchildren, Joshua and Caleb Johnson, Shelly (John) and Greg Dineen, Beth Hendrie (Chris), Christine Starcher (Billy) and Ken Dineen, Jr. (Sarah), Ted (Laura), Shannon, Jamie (Yokasta), and Michael (Kristen) Miller, Stephen and Jonathan Dineen, and 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear neighbors and friends. James was a proud World War II Veteran, serving in the Army Airborne from 1942 until 1945. He served in France as a paratrooper where he earned a Purple Heart. Jim was a logger and also worked construction for many years retiring from Rig All in Frankfort where his son Terry is employed today. Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church of Little Falls and personally enjoyed going to the stock car races at Fonda and playing cards. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home, 3 East Faville Avenue in Dolgeville, with Pastor Chris Wintermute officiating. Spring interment with full military honors will be in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5 until 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the American Heart Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
