Obituary of Lorraine G. Rivers

ILION – Lorraine G. Rivers, age 86, formerly of Prindle Apartments, Ilion, died on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion. She was born on August 8, 1929, in Ilion, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Parkinson) Rank, and was a graduate of Ilion High School. On June 2, 1951, she was married to Donald Rivers, in Herkimer. He died on February 11, 1998. Lorraine was employed in the office at Duofold Co., Mohawk, retiring several years ago. She enjoyed camping and fishing at Indian Lake. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Maine, of Ilion; two grandchildren, Robert Acker and his wife, Tina, and Shane Acker; eight great-grandchildren, Nicole Acker, Brandon Acker, Shari Maine, George Maine, Michael Maine, Cody Maine, RoseMarie Acker, and Brayton Acker; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents and husband. A funeral prayer service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2016, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s newly reopened and renovated home at 102 West St., Ilion. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. Visitation will be Friday, February 26, 2016, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m., just prior to the funeral home service at 102 West St., Ilion. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. The Rivers family has entrusted Lorraine’s service arrangements and supervision to their long time Family Funeral Director and friend, Don Applegate.
