Obituary of Nancy C. Kinville

MOHAWK – Nancy C. (Katovitch) Kinville, age 64, of Church St., Mohawk, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, with her family by her side. She was born on October 16, 1951, in Herkimer, the daughter of Edward and Virginia (Montoney) Katovitch. Nancy graduated from Mohawk High School in 1969. On June 24, 1972, she was married to Leo F. Kinville, in Mohawk. Nancy was a homemaker and mother to two children. In later years, she was a cashier at many local businesses. Mrs. Kinville was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, the Mohawk American Legion Auxiliary, and a past member of the Alexander Hose Co. Auxiliary. Nancy enjoyed the times she shared with her grandchildren. Nancy had a tremendous love for her dogs, especially her Buffy, Bea and Lady. Surviving family members include her husband of forty-three years, Leo; her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kristy Kinville, of Little Falls; her daughter and son-in-law, Kerri and Brice Griffin, of Rome; seven grandchildren, Spencer, Jacob, Gabrielle and Connor Griffin, Chase and Hayiley Doxtader, and Madison Kinville; her mother, Virginia (Katovich) Terricola, of Mohawk; her sisters, Judy Bray and her husband, Richard, of Mohawk, Carole LaLonde and her husband, Daniel, of Ilion; her brother-in-law, Robert Kinville, of Ilion; her sister-in-law, Carol Kinville, of Ilion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Edward Katovitch; infant brother, Gary; and brother-in-law, Allen Binney. Nancy’s Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2016, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s newly reopened and renovated home at 102 West St., Ilion, with Chaplain Ken Palmer, officiating. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 4, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., prior to the funeral home services, at 102 West St., Ilion. The Mohawk American Legion service will be held Friday at 4:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Anyone wishing to share a memory of Nancy, or add to her online memorial, may go to www.applegateandday.com. The family wishes to thank Dr. Sultana Razia, the Oncology team at Slocum-Dickson Clinic, the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare sixth floor Oncology Unit, and the nursing staff at Valley Health Services. A special thank you to her nephew, Christopher Bray, for his assistance. The Kinville family has entrusted Nancy’s service arrangements and supervision to their Family Funeral Director and friend, Don Applegate.
