Obituary of Joseph A. Loiacano

ILION – Mr. Joseph A. Loiacano, formerly of Ilion, NY, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 6, 2016 in Herkimer. He was born on July 19, 1923 in Ilion, a son of the late Dominick and Mamie (Castellano) Loiacano. He was raised and educated in the Litchfield area. He truly enjoyed operating his business for many years, Joe Loiacano Blacktop/Paving in Ilion. He was an avid gardener as well. He is survived by his children, Dominick Loiacano and his wife Bernadette of Frankfort, Patty Putnam and her husband Darwin, Sr. of Frankfort, Donna Loiacano of Ilion, Mamie Jennings and her husband Bruce of Mohawk, Joanne Rowell and her husband Harry of Frankfort, Joseph “Joey” Loiacano of Frankfort, and Darryl Loiacano of Michigan, two sisters and a brother – in – law, Beatrice Tocco and her husband Joseph of West Winfield, and Mary Cushman of Mohawk, a sister – in – law, Amelia Loiacano, a brother – in – law, Joseph Bello, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Andrew “Andy” Loiacano, Samuel “Sam” Loiacano, Thomas “Tom” Loiacano, his sisters, Josephine Farouche, Rosalie Cushman, Virginia Papa, and Mamie Bello, brothers – in – law, Frank Cushman, Tony Farouche, Charlie Cushman, and Amelio Papa, and sisters – in – law, Harriette Loiacano and Verna Loiacano. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 9, 2016 at 9:45 AM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, (Town of Frankfort), Ilion, NY and at 10:30 AM from the Church of Annunciation, West Street in Ilion where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Paul Catena, Pastor. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort with a graveside service. Calling hours at the funeral home are on Tuesday March 8th from 4 until 7 PM. The family is grateful towards so many who have helped during this difficult time, inclusive to the staff at Valley Health Services, as well as the staff and pharmacy at Kinney Drugs in Ilion and the St. Luke’s ICU/6th floor Unit.
