Obituary of Barbara Ann (Stucko) Remmell

UTICA – Barbara Ann (Stucko) Remmell would like to let you know that as of March 13 her work here is done. She received a call with the sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with husband, Robert, her grandson, Sean Obernesser, her parents, William and Ann Stucko, as well as many other family members, pets and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, feeding all the dogs, cats, birds, deer and any other animal she sees, where QVC never has sold out items, and enjoying wonderful new desserts is a must. Laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left detailed instructions for her children, Lou Ann Remmell Obernesser and husband, Paul, and Lori Ann Remmell Miano and husband, John; her grandchildren, Alexis Obernesser, Kaitlyn Miano and fiance, James Clifford, Justin Miano and Jack Miano; as well as her many friends to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. Low adherence to this instruction will not be tolerated. We want to let Barbara know that she did a great job and left all those she met with a special gift of having her in their life. Unfortunately the new position does not have long distance service for the many phone calls she and her dear friends shared often. We wish her a safe journey. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family and friends and animals of all sorts. Barbara made a difference in everyone she met – and was “mom” and “gram” to all the friends of her children and grandchildren. She also thanks the doctors and nurses of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital ICU who helped her make her journey from here to her new assignment. We invite you to join us and celebrate together. Barbara’s Life Celebration will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 21, 2016, at Nunn & McGrath Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica, and 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, 2222 Genesee St., Utica, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Joseph Salerno, Pastor. Interment will be in St. George’s Cemetery, Whitesboro, NY. Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 20, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Nunn & McGrath Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica, NY. Anyone wishing to share a memory of Barbara, or add to her online memorial, may go to www.applegateandday.com. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Stevens-Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio St., Utica, NY 13502. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home. The Remmell family has entrusted Barbara’s service arrangements and supervision to their long-time close friends, Funeral Director Don Applegate and his wife, Judy.
