ILION – Frederick “Fred” S. Collette, age 70, of Mexico, formerly of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at his home in the Country of Mexico, with his wife Jessica by his side. He was born on April 9, 1945, in Little Falls, NY, the son of James and Bertha (Bastille) Tubia. Fred attended Annunciation School and Ilion High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving in the US Navy. Fred was a dedicated missionary in the country of Mexico for over 25 years. Surviving family members include his wife, Jessica; his children, Eric, Rebecca, Rochelle, Rachael, Elisha, Naomi and Elizabeth; several grandchildren; his sisters, Deloris Collette, Pat Allen and her husband, John, and Daureen Gifford and her husband, Wayne; his brothers, Jim Tubia and his wife, Mary, Dennis Tubia, and Rob Tubia; and his daughter, Megan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Shaun; 4 sisters, Theresa Larabee, Barbara Bouck, Pauline Cummings and Nancy DeRusso; and his brother, Ron Collette. A Memorial Service was held at New Testament Church in Rome, NY. Fred’s family has entrusted local arrangements to their Family Funeral Director and relative, Don Applegate, at Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s newly reopened and renovated home at 102 West St., Ilion (895-7722).
