Obituary of Harriet E. Aiello

FRANKFORT- Harriet E. “Betty” Aiello, age 92, a long time Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Presbyterian Home & Rehabilitation Center, New Hartford. Born on December 13, 1923 in Utica, Betty was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Marion R. (Patten) Brunet. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. On November 18, 1943 she was united in marriage to Frank J. Aiello and shared a union of 65 years until Frank’s passing in May of 2009. Betty worked for many years as a bookkeeper and a front end clerk for Melrose Markets in Frankfort. Family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Although she was not of Italian heritage, she was taught by her mother-in-law and carried on the Italian traditions of cooking and baking; Sunday macaroni dinners with her family were special times for her. Betty was an avid New York Mets fan and never missed watching a game. She was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, St. Mary’s Church Choir and Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort. She leaves her beloved family her sons and daughters-in-law David and Dorrie Aiello of Frankfort and Joseph and Jackie Aiello of Vermont; her cherished grandchildren, Daniello Mendoza and husband Guillermo, David Aiello and wife Jessica, Deanna Polera and husband Stephen, Nicole Aiello and Marie Aiello; her great-grandchildren, Isabella, Nina, Luca, Zoe, Max and Cayden. She also leaves her sisters, Marion Burnet of Utica and Bea Watts of Schuyler: brother-in-law, Joseph Aiello of Utica and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Frank Anthony Aiello and a brother, Henry Brunet. Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation for Betty which will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, (Town of Frankfort) Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children Hospital; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Betty’s funeral service will commence on Friday, May 13, 2016 beginning at 9:45 AM from the funeral home and at 10:30 AM from Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Father Leo Potvin. Procession will follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Frank. The Aiello family has entrusted all funeral arrangements to Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea, and Martin L. Ciaccia, Funeral Directors.
