Obituary of Jean M. Brant

MOHAWK – Jean M. Brant, age 76, of N. Richfield St., Mohawk, went to be with her Lord on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8, 2016, with her loving children by her side. She was born on August 17, 1939 in LaPlata, MD, the daughter of Francis J. and Mildred (Keller) Nalley. Jean attended Archbishop Neale School in LaPlata, MD, for 12 years, where she graduated. On June 15, 1957, she was married to John H. Brant in LaPlata, MD. He died on November 1, 2003. She was a resident of Mohawk since 1964. Jean was Supervisor of Housekeeping at the Mohawk Homestead from 1970 to 1990. Later, she also worked as a crossing guard for the Village of Mohawk. Mrs. Brant loved all the residents at the Homestead and especially loved her school-age children she crossed daily. Jean also enjoyed crocheting, crafts, playing poker, and going to the casino. She was a devout member of the Blessed Sacrament Church, in Mohawk, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Her family was the love of her life. Surviving family members include her children, John “Rick” Brant, and his wife, Beth, of Mohawk, Debra Urtz, and her husband, Brett, of Mohawk, Sandra LaPera, of Mohawk, and Penny Mohler, and her husband, Jack, of Wooster, OH; six beautiful grandchildren, Brian Brant, and his wife, Jessica, Christopher Brant, Heather Urtz, Justin Urtz, and his wife, Monica, Tyler Ammermann, and Cortland Mohler; three great-grandchildren, Reece, Penelope and Freya Urtz; her twin sister, Janet Sanford, and her husband, John; her brother, Wayne Nalley, and his wife, Lynne, all of MD; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and a special friend, George Estey. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John H. Brant; her loving grandson, Joshua S. Ammermann; and four wonderful sisters. Funeral services will be held, 9:00 a.m., Monday, May 16, 2016, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s original location at 102 West St., Ilion, and 10:00 a.m., at the Blessed Sacrament Church, E. Main St., Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Interment will be in the Mohawk Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 15, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the original location of the funeral home on 102 West St., Ilion.
