Obituary of Anthony R. Lamanna

ILION – Mr. Anthony R. Lamanna, a US Navy Veteran, formerly of Ilion, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 15, 2016 at Folts Home of Herkimer, NY at the age of 88. He was born on January 20, 1928 in Herkimer, NY, the son of Rocco and Angelina (Perruccio) Lamanna and attended Herkimer schools. His service to our country was with the United States Navy, having been stationed in the Pacific Theatre. Anthony was employed at Univac in Ilion for many years, and as a maintenance man at Mohawk Valley General Hospital, retiring after 18 ½ years to enjoy his favorite pastime….fishing. He was a life member of the Herkimer and Ilion-Frankfort VFW’s, the American Legion in Mohawk, and the Ilion Fish and Game Club. He was most active in the Ilion Moose Lodge, #1010 making his fellowship and one term as Governor. Anthony was of the Catholic faith. He was a very devoted father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He enjoyed many hours fishing the West Canada Creek, Black Lake, and Canadarago Lake. He is survived by his two sons and daughters – in – law, Rocco and Melanie Lamanna and Joseph and Linda Lamanna and his daughter and son – in – law, Lisa and Ray Johnson all of Ilion, his sister and brother – in – law, Jeanine and Ben Migliore and a brother Rocco J. Lamanna, Jr. all of Herkimer, nine grandchildren, Anthony Lamanna, Michelle Lamanna, Sarah Herrera and her husband Eric, Mary Lamanna, Victor Lamanna and his companion Lorraine Klock, Christine M. Langevin and her husband Sean, Joseph Johnson, Michael Johnson, and Marissa Johnson, three step – grandchildren, Gregory Owen and his wife Jessica, and Andrew & Brittany Owen, his great – grandchildren, Jared and Kimberlee Lamanna and Kerrigan and Chase Owen, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Angelina and his father Rocco and his granddaughter Elizabeth Lamanna in 1986. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home (F.K.A. Holleran Funeral Service), 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY, (315) 866-1011. The calling hours will conclude at 6PM with a salute from his fellow comrades of the Ilion- Frankfort VFW Post. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016, beginning at 8:30 AM from the chapel of the funeral home and at 9:00 AM from the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, South Main Street, Herkimer, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated by The Reverend Quy Vo, Pastor. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, with full military honors. The family wishes to thank Dr. Sharma, and the entire staff at Folts Home for their care, compassion, and kindness, and a special thank you to Samantha, his RN on the fifth floor. In lieu of floral arrangements, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of CNY; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
