Obituary of Robert T. Grogan

ILION – Mr. Robert T. “Bob” Grogan, age 50, of Ilion, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 30, 2016. At the time of his passing he was doing what he loved the most, fishing onboard his boat in the Barge Canal. Born on February 17, 1966, in Ilion, Robert was the son of the late Robert B. and Antoinette “Annie” (Cuda) Grogan. Robert shared a special bond and closeness with his mother, up until her passing on January 26, 2000. His family takes great comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with her. Robert was raised and educated locally. He was a longtime employee with Fermer Precision, Inc., in Ilion, where he worked as a Machine Operator for over fourteen years and made many close friendships with his coworkers. Robert shared in a loving and steadfast ten-year relationship with his girlfriend, Laurie DeMar. In his spare time, he enjoyed nature and the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and spent countless hours on his boat and at the marina. Forever in the hearts of those he leaves behind, Robert is survived by his beloved Laurie DeMar; his son, Alex Grogan, with whom he shared a very special and close bond; his sisters, Debbie Grogan, of Herkimer, and Tammy Dawley and her boyfriend, David Vivlamore, of Little Falls; his brother and sister-in-law, William “Bill” and Sue Grogan, of Ilion; and his nieces and nephews, Mike Grogan and Shannon Schorer, of Ilion, Tyler Mosher, of Ilion, Ricky and Amanda Oyer, of Louisiana, Anthony and Belinda Oyer, of Georgia, Angela Stafford and Albert Murray, of Fort Plain, Vanessa Dawley, of Pennsylvania, and Ryan Dawley and Devin Dawley, both of Little Falls. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; his best friend, Jimmy Murray and his wife, Teresa; and his feline companion, Tank. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Robert’s visitation, which will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s original location at 102 West Street, Ilion. Robert’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will take place at the funeral home on Friday evening, June 3, 2016, at 6:00 PM, immediately upon the conclusion of visitation. He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery with his mother, Annie, at the convenience of his family.
