Paul Battisti

Obituary of Paul Rocco Battisti

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Paul Rocco Battisti, formerly of St. Johnsville, NY, and most recently of Boca Raton, Fl., passed away on June 8, 2016, at age 92. He was a humble, kind man who grew up farming the Home Town Dairy with his family. In later years Paul worked as a highly skilled union carpenter, building everything from industrial plants and houses to fine cabinetry. The consummate handyman, this man of many talents could make or fix just about anything. Paul’s passion, however, was flying. Throughout his lifetime he loved aviation of all kinds and flew his Cessna with friends and family, taking them on aerial excursions up and down the old Erie Canal, skimming the Great Sacandaga Lake, and soaring into the Adirondack Mountain wilderness. He would frequently joke with his passengers that he was lost in the clouds, but always with a wink and a smile. Paul was a proficient pilot who unfailingly knew the way home, although he did end up lost in Pennsylvania for an overnight stay once. In November of 2015, Paul was thrilled with a ride in the new Goodyear Airship, with daughter Paula. An accomplished musician, Paul played trumpet in an upstate New York dance band, often burning the candle at both ends and dancing the night away to swing tunes with his cherished wife of 61 years, Ann. He was a loving, supportive father and a wonderful, devoted husband. People who had the privilege of knowing Paul described him as a good and decent man, always true to his word, a proud American who cared about his neighbors and never said no to a favor asked of him. May he rest in peace. Paul leaves behind daughters Paula Battisti McClure, Rosanne Vezzi and husband Vincent, son Robert, sister Nancy Leo of Sierra Vista, Az., and three Fiaschetti cousins, also of Sierra Vista, Az. Paul’s soul mate, Ann Quattrocchi Battisti, passed away on January 5th, 2015. Anyone wishing to share a memory of Paul, or add to his online memorial, may go to www.eneafamily.com. Paul’s arrangements are being cared for by Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea, Funeral Directors, of The Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center Street St. Johnsville, NY (518) 568-2300. A joyful remembrance gathering of family and friends will be held in St. Johnsville later this month. The family kindly requests no flowers or donations be sent.
