Obituary of David Peter Warchal

Utica-Deerfield Mr. David P. Warchal 61 a lifelong resident of Utica and Deerfield, died Monday, July 11, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, with his family at his side. David was born in Utica on April 6, 1955 the son of Jane (Riley) Warchal of Utica and the late Chester Warchal, and was a graduate of Proctor High School, class of 1973. While in high school David set a pole vault record that still stands today. He was united in marriage to the former Karen Giordano on May 28, 1977, in Utica. They recently celebrated 39 years marriage. David was employed by the United Parcel Service (UPS) as a Fleet Manager for over 25 years, recently retiring from there due to his health. His interests included membership in the Price Shopper Golf League, playing cards, and as a musician and comedian entering his family and friends. He was the family “Handyman” and “Mechanic” and would tackle any project. His upmost priority was his wife, children and especially his grandchildren. David is survived by his beloved wife Karen, his Mother Jane Warchal of Utica, his Son and his wife Dr.David P. and Allison Warchal Jr. of Cicero, NY, his daughters Dr.Alaina and Matthew Keem of Ontario, NY, Amanda Warchal and Patrick Callahan of Utica, his brother and his wife Michael and Holly Warchal of Utica, his sisters and their husbands Mary Ellen and Ron Windham of Osceola, Indiana, Christine and her husband Joe Saporito of Utica, His grandchildren Lilliana Keem, Evan Keem, Andrew Keem, Olivia and Emma Warchal, his Father and Mother in law Peter and Dolores Giordano of Utica, Sisters in law Valerie ( Joseph) Mastrangelo, Lisa (John) Skowron and a brother in law Peter (Laurie) Giordano, several Nieces ,Nephews, Cousins, and several close friends. A celebration of David’s life will be held on Thursday July 14th, at 7PM at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Road, North Utica. Friends may call from 4-7Pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the America Cancer Society 100 Lomond Court Utica, NY 13502 in his memory.
