HERKIMER – Mrs. Elsa C. Overholt, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the age of 94 at the Masonic Care Community, Utica, NY. She was born on May 31, 1922 in Syracuse, NY, a daughter of the late Peter and Charlotte (Von Buesser) Morsdorf and was a graduate of Assumption Academy in Syracuse. She went on to study at Central City Business Institute. Her marriage to Claude Overholt took place April 30, 1949 in Syracuse and the couple went on to move to Herkimer, NY. Mr. Overholt passed away on May 25, 1995. Mrs. Overholt retired in 1980 from Marine Midland Bank in Herkimer from the position of bank teller. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Herkimer and at one time served as the church financial secretary. She loved to play cards. She is survived by her son James Overholt and his wife Sue of Herkimer, two daughters, Linda Balzano and her husband Paul of New Hartford, NY and Patricia Murray of Lexington, Kentucky, a brother, Peter Morsdorf of Jordan, NY, grandchildren, Jennifer Fey and her husband Tom, Sarah Cangelosi and her husband Jason, Paul N. Balzano, Jr., Emily Balzano, and Stephanie Overholt, great-grandchildren, Megan, Emily, and Thomas Fey, and Tessa Cangelosi, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Hendry and Margaret Morsdorf. Her funeral arrangements are with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, NY (Town of Frankfort) under the direction of Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea (315) 894-8000. The interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. A memorial service will be announced in the coming days and will be held in August, 2016 at the Immanuel Church, 9501 Weston Road, New Hartford, NY. The family is appreciative toward the Masonic Care Community for the wonderful care extended.
