Obituary of Joan Werenczak

MOHAWK – Mrs. Joan Wade Werenczak peacefully passed away at her home in Mohawk on July 27, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Along with her family, Joan was also comforted to have with her a friend of whom she met at a very young age, Mary Deblois Pisiak. Joan was 82 years of age, and was born on January 29, 1934 in Utica, NY. Her parents were Frank J. and Margaret (McNally) Wade. She graduated from St. Francis de Sales School in Utica and following that attended and graduated from Utica State Hospital School of Nursing. Her marriage to Edward J. Werenczak took place April 16, 1955 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in New York Mills. Joan was devoted to her family and was an excellent nurse. Throughout the years she had worked at Herkimer Hospital and Folts Homes, and lastly was a Registered Nurse / Nursing Supervisor at Valley Health Services of Herkimer. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edward, her children, Edward P. Werenczak of Cairo, NY, Michael Werenczak and his wife Denise of Mohawk, Cathleen Werenczak and her husband Jeff Caringi of Broadalbin, NY, and Amy Campanella and her husband Mike of Deland, Florida; her grandchildren, Alicia Jobson, Melanie Werenczak, Matthew Werenczak, Paula Werenczak, Mackenzie Werenczak, Margaret Werenczak, Michael Caringi, Marcus Caringi, Mitchell Werenczak, Ian Campanella, Grace Campanella, and Emily Campanella, her great – grandchildren, Peter Jobson, Cynthia Jobson, and Susan Jobson, two very special cousins, Jean Steiner and Pat McNamara, as well as nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law, Agnes. She was predeceased by her parents, and a sister Betty Moraski and her brother Bill Wade. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Joan’s calling hours which will take place on Monday, August 1, 2016, from 3:00PM – 7:00PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home 4309 Acme Road (Town of Frankfort), Ilion, NY. Joan’s funeral service will commence on Tuesday morning, August 2, 2016 at 9:15AM from the funeral home and at 10:00AM from St. Francis de Sales Church, North Bellinger Street, Herkimer, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by The Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor. Procession will follow to Mohawk Cemetery II Annex, Vickerman Hill, where Joan will be laid to rest. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Hospice Care.
