Obituary of Mark J. Aversa I

FRANKFORT: Mark J. Aversa I, age 60, a longtime Frankfort resident, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes, on Friday morning, July 29, 2016, in the comfort and privacy of his home. Born on July 3, 1956, Mark was the son of the late Patsy and Kathleen “Kay” (Grande) Aversa. He was raised and educated in Frankfort, graduating with the Frankfort-Schuyler Class of 1974. For the last fifteen years, Mark was employed as a custodian with his alma mater, the Frankfort-Schuyler Central School District. Mark was an easy going guy who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. His favorite pastimes included playing cards, horse racing and crossword puzzles. He was a movie enthusiast and an avid fan of James Bond. His outgoing demeanor was one of his greatest qualities, and his smile and friendly wave will be missed by those he leaves behind. Survivors include his daughter, Patsy Aversa of Syracuse; his son, Mark Aversa II and his fiancée, Sara Lafayette, of Albany; his sister and brother-in-law, Colleen and Sam Vivirito; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Monica Aversa of Minnesota, Patrick and Beth Aversa of Tennessee, and Christine Aversa of Mohawk. Always close to his heart was the memory of his brother, James Aversa, who passed away in 2008. Mark also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Friends and family are invited to attend Mark’s visitation, which will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315)894-8000. Mark’s funeral service will commence on Thursday morning, August 4, 2016, at 9:45 AM from the chapel of the funeral home and at 10:30 AM at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. In lieu of floral arrangements, expressions of sympathy can be made in Mark’s memory to the American Heart Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mark’s funeral arrangements and services have been entrusted to Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea, and Martin L. Ciaccia, Funeral Directors.
