Obituary of Patricia Y Kinville

WOODGATE-ILION - Patricia Y. Kinville passed away on March 27, 2016, in Crete, NE, after battling a long illness. She was born on August 22, 1934, in Philadelphia, the only child of the late Joseph and Hazel Bowers. The family, shortly after, moved to upstate New York, an area that shaped and continually inspired and remained “home” in her heart for the remainder of her life. After an early education in Ilion schools, the family relocated to Kentucky, where she received her high school degree from Owensboro High School. While in Kentucky, she married Billy A. Young and gave birth to two sons. Later, the couple divorced, and she completed a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Kentucky Wesleyan College, realizing a childhood dream of working in counseling and community services. She then worked as a social worker for the Kentucky Department of Human Resources. Three years later, she returned to upstate New York and married Joseph Kinville who remained her husband and best friend until his death in 1999. For 12 years, she worked as the Director of the Senior Day Center in Utica. After her retirement, she served as Town Clerk for the town of Forestport. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly as a community service advocate, volunteering in numerous capacities in both Kentucky and upstate New York, including Treasurer for the Woodgate Library and Secretary/Treasurer for the White Lake AID Society of Woodgate. She is survived by two sons, Michael A. Young and his partner, Chris J. Dutkiewicz, of Abiquiu, NM, and Donald A. Young and his wife, Lynette, of Crete, NE; one granddaughter, Season Young, of Crete, NE; two grandsons, Geoffrey G. Young and his wife, Shnieka Johnson, of New York City, and Brock Young and his wife, Nali, of Chicago, IL; five great-grandsons, Trey, Logan, Gunner, Garrett and Conway; and three cousins, Barbara Royster and her husband, Newton, of High Point, NC,Thomas Bowers and his wife, Diane, of Owensboro, KY, and Laura Bowers, of Lexington, KY. She is further survived by a stepson, Jeffrey Kinville and his wife, Patricia; as well as five stepdaughters, Susan Krenichyn and her husband, Scott, Michelle Khoury and her husband, George, Lynne Von Packal and her husband, Rodney, Lori Tucker, and Jolene Day and her husband, John. She will be forever remembered for her love of and pride in her family, her devotion to her many friends, as well as a propensity for wit and laughter, a quality certain to be profoundly missed by those who loved her. This gift she bequeaths to the youngest members of our family who are now only just beginning to learn her stories by heart. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Celebration of Life and Graveside Committal Service on Monday, August 22, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Woodgate Cemetery (White Lake Cemetery), Rt. 28, Town of Woodgate, NY.
