FORT PLAIN – Mr. Fred A. Nagele, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 79 on Saturday August 13, 2016. Fred was a farmer in the town of Minden, River Road for many years. He was born on December 29, 1936 in St. Johnsville, NY, son of the late William and Frida (Baumgartner) Nagele. He was educated in St. Johnsville schools, and went on to serve our country during the Korean War with the United States Army. In 1964 he was united in marriage with Joan Gallt. The couple enjoyed 52 years of marriage. Fred was a member of the St. Johnsville American Legion. Fred worked very hard to support his family through the years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed riding motorcycle, liked to fly, and absolutely loved to dance. Survivors include his wife, Joan, his three children, Frida Bergen and her husband Robert of St. Johnsville, Ernest Nagele and his partner Dawn Oldick of St. Johnsville, and Deborah Senft and her husband David of St. Johnsville, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his sister Irmgard of Nevada, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and In-Laws. He was predeceased by his parents along with two brothers William and Lawrence Nagele. In keeping with Fred’s wishes, there are no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at West St.Johnsville Cemetery with Rev. David A. Johnson officiating at a time convenient to the family. It is the wish of the family that donations in memory of Fred Nagele be considered to the Morris J. Edwards St. Johnsville American Legion Post #168.
