Obituary of James W. Canary, Sr.

EPHRATAH – Mr. James W. Canary, Sr. of County Highway 140, St. Johnsville, passed away at the age of 61 on Saturday August 20, 2016 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, NY. Jim was constantly surrounded with abundant love from his family. He was born on August 8, 1955 in Amsterdam, NY a son of the late Warren and Marion (Quackenbush) Canary. He was educated in Johnstown schools. His marriage to Nancy L. Sartin took place on October 16, 1976. Jim was the owner and operator of Canary Dairy. He was a member of the Little Falls First Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee, as well as the New York Holstein Association, the Farm Bureau and the OHM Holstein Club. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his children, James W. Canary, Jr. and his wife Marcy of Fort Plain, Carissa Suits and her husband Darren of Nelliston, Jason Canary and his wife Pam of Newton, North Carolina, and Arica Smith and her husband Mike of Fort Plain, 10 grandchildren, Desiree, Cameron, Dylan, Charlotte, Collin, Charlise, Ava, Daija, Gabriel, and Abbigail, his sisters, Joyce Canary Rose and her husband Alan of Gansevoort, NY, and Janet Canary Henry and her husband Dave of Washington State, along with several nieces, nephews and In-Laws. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 24, 2016 at 12 Noon at the First Baptist Church, 555 Albany Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Chris Wintermute officiating. Calling hours are at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center Street in St. Johnsville, NY on Tuesday August 23 from 5 until 9 PM. There will also be a calling hour at the church on Wednesday morning one hour prior to the funeral service. Final interment will take place at a later date at a time convenient to the family. Immediately after the church services on Wednesday, there will be a fellowship luncheon at the First Baptist Church. The family encourages all at the funeral service to attend. The family is grateful for the care offered at Mountain Valley Hospice and would appreciate any donations in memory of Jim to be considered to that facility.
