Obituary of Sondra M. Viscome

HERKIMER: Sondra M. Viscome, age 82, a longtime resident of Little Falls and Herkimer, departed this world for the promise of a better life, on Saturday evening, August 20, 2016, at Basset Healthcare Center in Cooperstown. At the time of her passing she was surrounded by the love and support of her children and grandchildren by her bedside. Born in Gloversville on February 20, 1934, Sondra was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Neitzke) Viscome. Through her studies, she attended the BOCES program and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. For over 25 years, Sondra lived in Little Falls where she raised her family, and most recently was a resident of Herkimer. Sondra lived to serve others, and nothing brought her more joy than giving herself to the betterment of the people in her life, both in her workplace and in her home. She spent her career as a Home Health Aide with the Herkimer County Public Health Department, as well as a three-year tenure spent with Jupiter Hospital in Florida. At home, she was dedicated to raising her six children. She was an avid knitter and baker, and as she grew older, nothing brought her more joy than her time spent with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dedicated to her Catholic faith, Sondra was a longtime parishioner of the Church of Saints Anthony and Joseph in Herkimer, where she served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the 3rd Order of the St. Francis DiPaola Society. Left behind to carry on her legacy, Sondra’s beloved family includes her daughters and son-in-law, Karen and William Carrig of Little Falls and Kristine Kuehnle and her companion Tim Johnston of Mickleton, NJ; her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Kuehnle of Syracuse, David and Lynda Kuehnle of Herkimer, William and Ann Marie Kuehnle of Little Falls, and Karl and Christine Kuehnle of Elbridge. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, a special aunt, Minnie Viscomi, a beloved friend for over 63 years, Joan Canorro of Little Falls and her goddaughter, Colleen Corsi. Friend and relatives are invited to attend Sondra’s visitation on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, (F.K.A. Holleran Funeral Service) 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY (315)866-1011. Those considering memorial contributions are asked to consider a charity of one’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Sondra’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday morning, August 24, 2016, at 8:30AM from the funeral home and at 9:00AM from the Church of Saints Anthony and Joseph in Herkimer where her Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by Father Quy Vo, Pastor. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer where she will be laid to rest. Sondra’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Basset Healthcare Center’s ICU, as well as a special thank you to Chrissy and Michelle. Sondra’s funeral arrangements were prearranged and entrusted to Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea, Funeral Directors.
