Obituary of Rose Bisconti Lamanna

LITTLE FALLS – Mrs. Rose (Bisconti) Lamanna, age 96, a lifelong Little Falls resident, entered into her eternal rest to be reunited with her husband, Louis, on Thursday morning, August 25, 2016, at the Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. At the time of her passing she had the love and support of her devoted children by her bedside. Born on January 1, 1920, Rose was the daughter of the late Anthony, Sr., and Serafina (Evangelisti) Bisconti. She was raised and educated in Little Falls, and on September 23, 1945, was wed to Louis Lamanna in St. Joseph’s Church. The couple shared in a blessed union of fifty-three years, until Louie’s passing in 1998. For many years, Rose held employment with the P & K Dress Shop, Melrose Slipper Company and Little Frocks Dress Shop, all in Little Falls. She was a longtime member of the former DeCarlo Staffo Post Ladies’ Auxiliary and the AARP. She was dedicated to the practice of her Catholic faith and was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family Parish. Rose was a woman grounded in the traditions of her Italian heritage and her first and foremost priority was always to serve as the matriarch of her family. She was also the family historian; always updating her book, which she carried with her at all times. She loved nothing more than gathering her loved ones around a table to celebrate the holidays and other occasions. She was an excellent cook, a talented seamstress, and in her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and cheering for the New York Yankees. Rose will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind. Survivors include her loving daughter, Evelyn (Lamanna) Lang of Little Falls; her loving son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sallyann Lamanna of Oneonta; her grandchildren, Deanna Lang-Comer and her husband, Michael, Debbie Lang, Christen and Kristopher Anderson, Anthony and Zhanna Lamanna and Tina Lamanna; and her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brianne, Christian, Daniel, Kirsten, Kyleigh and Lorenzo. She also leaves her sister and brother-in-law, Ida and Warner Miller of Richfield Springs, her brother, Anthony “Biscuit” Bisconti, Jr. of Little Falls, her sister-in-law, Cece Lammana, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Dante Bisconti, Arthur Bisconti and Infant Dante Bisconti, one sister, Yolanda Thomason, in-laws, Clyde Thomason, Elaine Bisconti, Patsy and Lyda Lamanna, Anthony Lamanna, Larry and Mary Lamanna, Rocco Lamanna, Joseph Lamanna, Angie and Jerry Colangelo, Rose and Fred Francesco, Nancy and Floyd Yacabucci and Mary and Jim Maneen. Family and friends are invited to attend Rose’s visitation on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:30PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY, (315) 823-2424. Rose’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Monday morning, August 29, 2016 at 10:15AM from the funeral home and at 11:00AM from the Holy Family Parish Church (corner of East Main and John Streets) where her Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by Reverend Terence Healy. Procession will follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Holy Family Parish, Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, or to a charity of one’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The Lamanna family is being served by their family funeral directors, Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea.
