Obituary of Jeffrey M. Shepardson

LITTLE FALLS - Jeffrey M. Shepardson, age 49, passed away on Sunday, September 11th, 2016 at Bassett Medical Center, in Cooperstown, after a brief illness, surrounded by the love of his family. Jeff was born on January 5, 1967 in Little Falls, NY. He was raised by his loving mother, Lucille Shepardson. He attended St. Mary’s Academy and was a graduate of Little Falls High School. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from HCCC. He was joined in marriage to Stacie Canorro on August 31, 1991 at St. Joseph’s Parish: Jeff and Stacie just celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary. Jeff was a passionate man who cared deeply for his family and his work. Jeff served the Little Falls Police Department as a full-time officer from November 1989 until September 1993. He then transferred to the Gloversville Police Department where he achieved the rank of Detective. Jeff was currently employed as a narcotic investigator in the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement at the NYS Department of Health in Albany. He was an Assistant Council Leader for Division 205 (Health) and an Executive Board Member of the NYS Public Employee Federation. He was also a part-time police officer and call firefighter serving the City of Little Falls until the time of his passing. Jeff served as a firearms instructor, a Naloxone Overdose Training Instructor, a Crime Scene Evidence Technician, a Tactical Casualty Care Instructor, an American Heart Association CPR / AED / 1st Aid instructor. Jeff leaves behind his wife Stacie, his son Michael and his wife Kari and their son Jacob, who was Jeff’s pride and joy, his daughter Alexandra and her fiancé Alex Palmer, his mother Lucille, brothers, Walt (Donna), Bob (Sandy), Ken (Christine), a sister Kathy Welden (Herb) and his brother Steve (Sandy). He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Joan Canorro and in-laws, RoseMarie Battisti-Bruce (Jack), Jim Canorro (Sue), and Colleen Corsi (Sam) along with his aunts, uncle and many cousins. Jeff was a caring and supportive uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Jeff was pre-deceased by his beloved grandmother’s Stella Dempster and Rose Ottaviani. Jeff’s family will remember him through this quote by Washington Irving, “There is a sacredness in tears. They are not a mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief…and unspeakable love.” The family will receive friends and relatives at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls on Thursday evening, September 15th from 4 – 8 pm. Members of the Little Falls Police and Fire Departments as well as City Officials will call in a body on Thursday evening at 6 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 16, 2016 at 8:45 AM at the funeral home where the Rite of Transference will be offered. Jeff’s Mass of Christian Burial will take place from Holy Family Parish, corner of East Main & John Streets, Little Falls on Friday morning at 9:30 am with Father Terence Healy, Pastor officiating assisted by Deacon Joseph DeLorenzo.
