Obituary of Mary L. Byron

LIBERTY/HERKIMER- Mrs. Mary (Moretti) Byron, age 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on June 11, 1922 in Herkimer, NY, the daughter of the late Umberto and Theresa (Servadio) Moretti. She was educated at Herkimer High School. On November 8, 1952, Mary was married to the late Robert Kellogg Byron, a WWII Veteran. The couple shared in almost fifteen years together, until Byron’s untimely passing on August 7, 1964. Mary was first employed with Sperry Rand-UNIVAC and last employed at Mohawk Data Sciences in Herkimer. Mary’s life was dictated and inspired by her great faith in God. In her spare time she enjoyed gaining knowledge through her love of reading. She found tremendous joy in sharing the accomplishments and life milestones of her grandchildren, daughter and family. For the past sixteen years, as she approached her late age, she has resided with her daughter and grandchildren in Liberty, NY. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her loving family; her beloved daughter, Roberta Byron-Lockwood and son-in-law, Herb Clark; three cherished grandchildren, Matthew Byron Lockwood of Warwick, Kelley Marie Lockwood of Liberty and Christopher Louis Lockwood of Liberty; many nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and her sisters-in-law, Teresa Moretti and Fannie Moretti. Besides her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Fortuna, and her brothers, Louis, John, Patsy, Michael and Fiore Moretti. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday afternoon, September 18, 2016, from 2:00PM-5:00PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home (F.K.A. Holleran Funeral Service), 220 N. Washington St, Herkimer, NY (315)866-1011. Mrs. Byron’s funeral service will commence on Monday morning, September 19, 2016, beginning at 8:30AM with a prayer service from the chapel of the funeral home and at 9:00AM at Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, Main Street, Herkimer, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by The Reverend Quy Vo, Pastor. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the administration, doctors and staff of the Catskill Regional Medical Center for the warmth, compassion and excellent care given to their mom/grandmother during their difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider making a memorial contribution in Mary’s name to the Catskill Regional Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 800, Harris, NY 12742-9989; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the care and guidance of Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea, Funeral Directors.
