HERKIMER – Mrs. Geraldine J. Bokowski, age 80, a longtime Herkimer resident, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2016, in the privacy of her home. Born on July 4, 1936, Geraldine was the daughter of the late Patrick and Julia (Zalewski) Tarkowski. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Utica Free Academy and going on to earn her Associate’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. On January 21, 1956, she was wed to Paul M. Bokowski at St. Joseph’s Church in Herkimer, and the couple shared in a loving and blessed union of 47 years, up until Mr. Bokowski’s passing on April 5, 2003. Geraldine enjoyed her career as an Occupational Therapy Assistant and retired as such. She enjoyed nothing more than time spent with her children, grandchildren, siblings and friends. She was a parishioner of Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church in Herkimer. Geraldine is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Alan Darling of Little Falls; her grandchildren, Paul Darling and Rebecca McKabe, Matthew Darling, Amber Darling and Alan Darling, Jr.; one great-grandson, Oliver Q. Darling; her sister, Dorothy Synakowski of Sauquoit; her brother, Joseph Tarkowski of Whitesboro; in-laws, George and Mary Jane Bokowski; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Geraldine’s family would be honored to have friends and family join them on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 9:00AM from Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church in Herkimer, where her Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Quy Vo, Pastor. Geraldine’s funeral arrangements and supervision have been entrusted to Harry J. and Kevin E.
