Obituary of Antoniette (Famiglietti) Zitoli

Little Falls- Antoniette (Famiglietti) Zitoli, 95, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, September 16, 2016, at the Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. At the time of her passing, she had the love and support of her family at her bedside. Born November 18, 1920 in Solofra, Italy to Gerardina (Santulli) Famiglietti and Carmine Famiglietti, Antoniette and her family came to America in 1929. She grew up in Bronx, New York. Antoinette worked as a supervisor in a U.S. Navy Defense Plant during WWII in Jamaica, New York. Before she married Alex Zitoli in 1947, she also worked at a New York dress fashion house on 7th Avenue. The true focus of her life was their family, raising her three sons, Jerry, Mike, and JoJo in Irvington, New York. Antoniette spent ten years working and volunteering at Irvington High School. After her husband retired in 1982, Antoniette and Alex moved to Little Falls, New York. Throughout their lives, they loved to dance together and were always the life of the party. Antoniette loved to cook and entertain people. Nothing gave her more joy than feeding a crowd of people, and she was known for her world class Italian red sauce. She exuded an irresistible joie de vivre, and, if you met her, you never forgot her. Antoniette’s memory will live on the hearts of her loving family, three sons: Gerald Zitoli and wife Dawn of Little Falls, Michael Zitoli and wife Laurie of Golden, CO, and Joseph Zitoli and wife Lois of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren: Kristine Richardson (husband Marlon), Daniel Zitoli, Grace Zitoli, Joseph Zitoli, and Alexander Zitoli; great-grandchildren: William and Andrew Richardson. She is survived by her sisters Carmela Tarbona of Syracuse, NY, Dolores Gariola of Bronx, NY, and her brother, Peter Famiglietti, also of Bronx, NY, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Alex Zitoli, her sister Joannie Rimoli, and her sister Rose Famiglietti, and her brother Anthony Famiglietti. The family would like to thank all of their friends and extended family for their love and support during this difficult time. They would like to thank Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Hospice Care for their heartfelt and exhaustive care of Antoniette during the last two years of her life. Additionally, they would like to thank Antoniette’s good friends Shirley Oldfield and Rebecca Sweet for their constant to devotion to Antoniette’s well-being. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 20, 2016 at 10:30 AM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls, NY and at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main & John Streets, Little Falls. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Rev. Terence Healy, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Family and friends will be received on Monday Sept. 19 at the funeral home from 5 until 7 PM.
