Obituary of Mary A. LaValla

LITTLE FALLS: Mrs. Mary A. LaValla, age 88, a long time Little Falls resident, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Little Falls Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 2, 1928, in Little Falls, a daughter of the late Generoso and Angelina Lamanna Colangelo. She was educated in Tuckahoe NY. On October 11, 1952, she was married to Louis L. LaValla in Pennsylvania, a blessed union of 12 years, up until Mr. LaValla’s passing on April 17, 1964. Mary was employed for the Little Falls School district retiring in 1990. She loved serving her family home cooked meals, especially Sunday dinners. In her free time, Mary enjoyed trips to the casino with friends. Mary is survived by her loving sons and daughters in-law; David LaValla and wife Pam, Joseph LaValla and wife Linda, all of Little Falls; one brother Anthony Colangelo, one sister Jean Zuccaro, both of Little Falls; six grandchildren; Dawn (Jon) Briggs, Amy (Will) Grabinski, Gina (David) Parrott, Amanda (Patrick) Canastar, Bethany (Paul) Kubik, and Michael (Katie) LaValla; as well as 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Kathleen Grande and one brother, Joe Colangelo. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, September 26, 2016, from 5:00PM-7:00PM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315-823-2424). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 27, 2016 at 10:15 AM from funeral home and at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main & John Streets in Little Falls where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Donations in her memory may be made to Valley Residential Services or the Thomas B. Golisano Hope Lodge. Envelops will be available at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and Aides on the 3rd floor at Little Falls Hospital as well as the staff at Valley Health Residential Services.
