Obituary of Robert Louis Sheppard

Dolgeville Mr. Robert Louis Sheppard 87 of 159 Keyser Lake Road (Town of Oppenheim), Dolgeville, died Thursday September 22nd, 2016 at St. Johnsville Nursing Center where he was a resident since August of this year. Bob was born in Little Falls on December 18, 1928 the son of Frances Sheppard and was educated in Dolgeville Schools. A Veteran of the United States Navy, Bob served honorably from January 1946 until he was discharged in January of 1950. Bob served with Sub-Group One, Bremerton Group and the Pacific Reserve Fleet, earning the rank of Seaman 1st Class. Bob was employed by Adirondack Industries of Dolgeville for 29 years retiring from there in 2003. His marriage to the former Patricia A. Mucklow took place on August 11th, 1948 in Port Orchard, Washington, while he was stationed there. She predeceased him on July 15th, 2007. Bob was a proud Life member of the VFW formerly of Dolgeville and now of Frankfort, along with Life membership in the America Legion Post 31 of Little Falls, he was an exempt member of the Dolgeville Fire department, first serving with the former Alfred Dolge Hose Company, a member of the Auxiallry Police Department of Dolgeville, the National Association of Radiation Survivors (Atomic Bomb Test), and was a proud member of the Alcohol Anonymous for over 33 years and he enjoyed his personal hobbies of hunting, fishing and coin collecting, especially Morgan Silver dollars. He is survived by his sons Roberts Sheppard Jr. of Gloversville, Edward and Carolyn Sheppard of Florida, Michael and Ann Sheppard of Dolgeville, his daughters Ann McIntosh of Auburn,NY, Bonnie and Charles Chrisman of Stratford, 16 Grandchildren, several great Grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Monday October 3rd, 2016 at 10 AM in the Dolgeville Cemetery, with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. Military Honors will be conferred by the United States Navy. In addition there will be a service at 2PM at Saratoga National Cemetery. Friends may call on SUNDAY October 2nd 2016 at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville, from 2-5PM. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to AMVETS 4647 Forbes Blvd. Lanham, MD 20706.
