Obituary of Mildred B. Piper

MOHAWK – Mrs. Mildred B. “Millie” Piper, age 90, passed away comfortably in her home at Acacia Village in Utica on Sunday September 25, 2016 at 10:00 PM. Millie was born in Plattsburg, NY on March 28, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Roland and Ethel (Powers) Belgard. She graduated from St. John’s Academy, Plattsburgh, in 1943. She was married to Richard E. Piper on January 30, 1946 in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Plattsburgh. Mr. Piper passed away on August 15, 2000. Millie is also predeceased by her daughter, Susan Piper Kublick, on December 6, 2002. She has two grandchildren, Daniel Piper Kublick of Brooklyn and Jillian Piper Kublick of Honolulu. Millie retired from the Mohawk Central School System as a secretary in 1976. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, a 58 – year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #25 in Mohawk, Mohawk Senior Citizens, Mohawk Central School Retirees Association, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Saint Bridget #265, Ilion, NY. In keeping with Millie’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours. Family and friends are invited to attend her memorial mass at Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk at 10:00 AM on Saturday October 22, 2016; it will be celebrated by Father Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, followed by interment of her ashes at Mohawk Cemetery, Village of Mohawk. A noon reception shall follow at the Waterfront Grille, Herkimer. Those wishing to remember Millie in a special way are asked to consider either a donation to Hospice & Palliative Care or to the Blessed Sacrament Church. Millie received wonderful attentive care from Hospice; her family is very grateful.
