FORT PLAIN – Mr. Karl A. Veit passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at the age of 78 on September 26, 2016 at the St. Johnsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Karl has valiantly battled Parkinson’s over the past 5 to 6 years and just refused to give in. He was born on December 6, 1937 in Norwich, CT, son of the late William and Hilda (Grabb) Veit. On February 22, 1957 he was united in marriage with Mary L. Klinkhammer. Theirs was a loving union that lasted over 58 years. Mary passed away on December 2, 2015. Karl, along with his wife, were owners and operated Veit Farms in the town of Minden since 1970, and was a member of the Farm Bureau. He was very devoted to his family. He is survived by his daughter Gail Rivkowich and her husband David of Fort Plain; his sons: William Veit and his wife Beth of Palatine Bridge, Richard Veit and his wife Claudia of Fort Plain and Ronald Veit and his wife Dawn of Chipley FL; his 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his brothers, R. Glen Veit and David Veit both of Canterbury, CT, and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, his parents, and his brother Kenneth and sister, Marilyn, and his great - grandson Jalen. In keeping with Karl's wishes there are no calling hours. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Johnsville Nursing and Rehabilitation for the care and love they showed to Karl and his family.
