Obituary of Gloria J. Falzarano

Life began for Gloria J. Falzarano on November 20, 1932 and ended on October 25, 2016, after 83 joyous years of life, when she passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening at the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. Her passing occurred with the blessings of her loving and devoted husband and children by her bedside. As the daughter of the late Bennie and Florence Migliore, much of Gloria’s success in life was accredited to her parents. Although immigrants from Italy, they emphasized the need for a college education and financed it. After graduating from Frankfort High School in 1950, Gloria pursued her education at the University at Albany where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1954. She continued her studies at Syracuse University where she obtained a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling. Gloria taught English at Mohawk Central School for six years and later spent 32 years as a guidance counselor at Frankfort-Schuyler High School, retiring in 1989. Gloria often spoke about her students remembering them fondly. On August 8, 1959, Gloria married her beloved Clem Falzarano, and the couple shared in a 57-year union filled with love, laughter and friendship. Together they raised two children, David and Andrea. She was grateful that God graced her life with two wonderful children and her husband who was her best friend. Gloria felt that when David married Annamaria Caricchio and Andrea married Jim Malloy, two more wonderful children were added to their family. Especially welcomed were three beloved grandchildren, Michael, Vanessa and Christopher. In addition, Gloria always felt that her in-laws, John and Jennie Falzarano, now deceased, were a special part of her family. They contributed much of their love and help from the time she married Clem. Gloria will be best remembered as a loving wife, mother, loyal friend, and as a generous person. She was blessed with a light-hearted nature, a sense of humor, and an infectious laugh. A devout Catholic, Gloria held a deep affection for her church, Our Lady Queen of Apostles. Especially meaningful to her because of her love for the Blessed Mother, was her membership in the S.S. Addolorata Society. During their years together, Clem and Gloria enjoyed spending winters in Ormond Beach, Florida where they made many friends in their “Aberdeen” retirement community. Gloria is survived by her husband Clem, her children David and Annamaria Falzarano and Jim and Andrea Malloy; grandchildren, Michael Falzarano, Michael Pingitore, Vanessa Falzarano, Christopher Falzarano, and Sean Duffy. She also leaves her brother and sister-in-law Benjamin and Dorothy Migliore; sisters-in-law Janet Falzarano and Eleanor Falzarano as well as many nieces, nephews and cherished friends. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Gloria’s visitation, which will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY 315-894-8000. In lieu of flowers, you may remember Gloria with Masses at Our Lady Queen of Apostles or with Contributions to the Humanitarian Award at Frankfort-Schuyler High School. Gloria’s funeral service will commence on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, beginning at 9:45 AM from the chapel of the funeral home and at 10:30 AM at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort where her Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor, and Rev. Francis Vivacqua. Procession will follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery where Gloria’s earthly remains will be laid to rest. Gloria’s parting words to those she leaves behind: “Remember people, Schuyler is spelled S-c-h-U-yler!” “Don’t worry, be happy, the lights will always come on again” “Love one another” “Jesus, I Trust in You” Gloria's funeral arrangements were prearranged and have been entrusted to Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia, Funeral Directors.
