Obituary of Joyce Meisenheimer

Miss Joyce Meisenheimer, age 69, of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, October 31, 2016, at the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, in the privacy and comfort of her room. Born on April 22, 1947, Joyce is the daughter of Elizabeth “Betty” (Marley) Meisenheimer, and the late Frank Meisenheimer. She was raised and educated in Hinckley, and was a graduate of Remsen High School. She continued her education and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Oneonta in the culinary arts. Joyce worked at various restaurants throughout her career, as well as in catering, but spent the majority of her time as the head cook at the Mapledale Hotel in Barneveld. Joyce enjoyed her time in the kitchen, was an avid reader, and a longtime member of the Faith Alliance Church in Ilion. She is survived by her mother, Betty; her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Angie Meisenheimer; her brother-in-law, Jonathan Meakim; her nephews, Steven and Robert Meakim; her uncle, Richard Marley; her cousins, Margaret and Don Stowell; as well as numerous cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Frank, and her sister, Pam Meakim. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Joyce’s graveside service, which will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at 11:00AM at Forest Hill Cemetery, Oneida Street, Utica. All service arrangements have been entrusted to Don Applegate and Martin L. Ciaccia, Funeral Directors of the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West Street, Ilion, NY.
