Obituary of Jane L. Adukiewicz

Mrs. Jane L. Adukiewicz, age 98, a longtime Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, with her loving family by her side. Jane was born on February 3, 1918, the daughter of the late Michael and Michalena (Markowski) Filipski. She was raised and educated in Little Falls and attended local schools there. On October 13, 1935, she was wed to Mr. Samuel W. Adukiewicz in Little Falls, and the couple shared in a blessed and devoted union of over 56 years, until Sam’s passing on December 22, 1991. Jane was a hardworking woman, who not only was employed as an assembler with MDS in Herkimer, but also as a full-time mother and homemaker. Her number one priority was always her family, and, together with her husband, Sam, raised her children and grandchildren to uphold traditional values of love, respect and honesty. She held a deep Christian faith, and was a longtime member of the Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church in Herkimer. Her presence will be dearly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine C. and Anthony Luppino of Herkimer; her sons, Samuel W. Adukiewicz, Jr. of Florida and Michael J. Adukiewicz of Herkimer; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sisters, Helyn Oliver of Little Falls and Wanda Noyes of Cooperstown; her brother, James Filipski of Greensboro, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and several dear friends. Besides her parents and husband, Jane was predeceased by her brothers, Ted Filipski and William Filipski, and by her grandson, Anthony Luppino. In keeping with Jane’s wishes, her family will bid their farewells in a private gathering, and she will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mt. View Memorial Garden Cemetery. Those wishing to do so are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church, 838 West German Street, Herkimer, NY 13350. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Mohawk Valley Heath Care Center for the years of care that Jane received while residing there. Arrangements have been entrusted to Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea, Funeral Directors of the Enea Family Funeral Home (F.K.A. Holleran Funeral Service) 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, 13350, (315) 866-1011.
