MOHAWK – Walter F. Hamilton, age 94, formerly of Putts Hill Rd., Mohawk, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Folts Home, Herkimer. He was born August 5, 1922 in Williamsport, PA to George and Mary (Evans) Hamilton. In 1968, he married Ruth Witchey. Walter worked on farms in NY and PA for several years, as well as in the automotive industry. He had two cockatiels, of which he was very fond, and loved to feed the chipmunks in his yard. Walter was a kind-hearted person who looked out for others and liked to make people laugh. Surviving family members include his nephew, Harold Fishbough, of Gillett, PA and his great-niece, Deb Lum, of Liverpool. He was predeceased by six sisters: Mary, Jennie, Minnie, Cora, Nellie and Mabel; six brothers: Oscar, Elmer, Robert, George, Lawrence and Billy; and his wife, Ruth. Walter will be buried in the spring of 2017 at Mohawk Cemetery next to his sister, Mary, who died May 6, 2016.
