Obituary of Mary C. Losito

HERKIMER: Mary C. Losito, age 85, a lifelong Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 21, 2016, in the comfort of her home. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by the love and support of her family. Mary was born on February, 17, 1931 in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Catherine (Tinella) Netti. Raised and educated locally, she attended Herkimer schools. On October 6, 1951, Mary was united in marriage to Vito Losito, and as a couple, they shared in 65 years of a devoted and blessed marriage. Mary was employed at one time for Derby Sportswear and the Herkimer Telegram, but most of her time was spent as a homemaker. Adhering to her Italian traditions, nothing brought her more joy than serving her family home cooked Italian meals, and tending to her garden. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting gloves and hats for babies. Mary was a member of the Crafty Ladies and a parishioner of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Parish, Herkimer. Surviving family members include her beloved husband, Vito; her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Vito J. and Margaret Losito of Syracuse; her daughter and son-in-law, Maryann and Joseph Cirillo of Mohawk; her cherished grandchildren, Joseph Cirillo, Esq., Mary Cirillo, Dr. Elisabeth Losito and her husband Dr. Rahul Gupta, and Erica Losito. She also leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Claude Orcutt of Herkimer, in-law, Richard Carbone and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandson, Jonathan M. Cirillo, and her five siblings. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Mary’s calling hours, which will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home (FKA Holleran Funeral Service), 220 North Washington St., Herkimer, NY (315) 866-1011. Mary’s funeral service will commence on Christmas Eve morning, December 24, 2016 at 8:15 AM from the funeral home and at 9:00 AM at Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church in Herkimer, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Quy Vo, Pastor. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer in the spring of 2017. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Food for the Poor and/or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Mary’s funeral arrangements were prearranged with Harry J. and Kevin E.
