Obituary of Ann "Peg" M. Yardley

ILION- Ann M. “Peg” Yardley, age 90 of Ilion, passed away on January 2, 2017, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, with her loving and cherished family by her side. She was born on October 2, 1926 in Frankfort, NY, the daughter of the late Thomas and Nellie (McCarthy) O’Connor. She was a graduate of Frankfort High School and was married to Roland M. Yardley, on October 22, 1950 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Frankfort, NY. Peg and Roland spent many years enjoying their children and grandchildren at Evergreen Lake and then St. Lawrence River before his passing on January 12, 2000. Peg had been last employed as an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance in Herkimer, NY and also held various employments for The New York Telephone Company, Powers Insurance Company, Southwick Insurance Agency, and was a licensed Real Estate Agent. She was a devout Catholic and a member of the Annunciation Church in Ilion and a former member of the Catholic Daughters and the Alter Rosary Society. Peg’s volunteer work included the Ilion Food Bank, the London Towers meal program, and worked the Herkimer County and Village of Ilion elections. Peg was proud of her Irish heritage and exemplified Love, Loyalty, and Friendship as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Peg is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Richards and husband John, Gail Carney and husband Shawn, Lynne Marhaver and husband David, all of Ilion; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Yardley and wife Janet of Herkimer and Roland Yardley and wife Chris of Fairfax Station, VA. Her grandchildren Robert (Connie) and Michael (Holly) Yardley; Patricia (Jerome) Zink, Erin (Paul) Renaud, Kelly (Joel) Rowland; Sarah, Alex, and Sam Yardley; Stephen Carney and Catherine (Keith) Entwistle; Casey, Paige, and Erin McGraw; Emily and Katie Marhaver. She also leaves her ten great-grandchildren that she adored; a special niece Patricia Morey; brother Francis O’Connor; sisters-in-law, Mary, Eleanora, and Elizabeth O’Connor, as well as many nieces and nephews. Peg was predeceased by her beloved husband Roland; daughter Patricia Lynne in 1961, a sister Helen Alexander, and brothers’ Joseph, Jack, Timothy, and Patrick O’Connor. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday January 4, 2017 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home. Her funeral will commence on Thursday January 5, 2017 at 9:45 AM from the funeral home and at 10:30 AM at Annunciation Church with the Rev. Paul Catena celebrating her mass of Christian burial. Interment will take place at St. Johns Cemetery in Newport in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ilion Ambulance Fund.
